Printex Press is Environmentally Friendly and uses Sustainable Printing Practices

Printex Press is FSC Certified
Printex Press is a member of the family of FSC-certified printers. Our certification was performed by SmartWood, a program of the Rainforest Alliance. Obtaining FSC certification is the latest practice in a growing chain of environmental practices and the FSC Chain-of-Custody certification reflects our commitment to sustainable manufacturing practices within our own facility, as well as with our business partners in the paper community. FSC certification provides our customers with an additional option to help reduce the environmental impact of their printed materials.

FSC is an international, non-profit association whose membership comprises environmental and social groups and progressive forestry and wood retail companies working in partnership to improve forest management worldwide.
Printex Press Certification Code: SW-COC-2173

When you choose to partner with Printex Press your company can make use of the FSC logo on projects printed on FSC-certified paper which is made of pulp harvested from responsibly managed forests.

Paper
We specialize in educating our customers on paper choices that promote environmental sustainability. In partnership with our paper vendors our business has focused and specialized in choosing papers that are FSC-certified and we offer many options for you to choose from. Let us know if you are interested in learning more about the many choices now available for printing on environmentally friendly paper.

Plates
We use Kodak Thermal Direct printing plates which are produced digitally on our Creo Trendsetter Quantum Computer-to-Plate device without the use of harmful chemistry and processed on the press reducing the water waste incurred in plate processors.

Recycling
Printex and its employees have made a commitment to the environment by participating in the City of Bellevue’s Business Commingled Recycling program.

Employees recycle everything from office paper, aluminum pop cans, junk mail, computer and copy paper to glass bottles and jars. We recycle approx. 64 gallons or 512 pounds per week through this program.

We also recycle our aluminum plates used in the printing process with Fine Art Medallion Company – approx. 200 pounds per month.
Through Fibres International, Inc. our shop paper waste is processed to produce new office communication papers, paper towels, tissue and to provide a white printing surface on boxes for breakfast cereal. Printex recycles an average of 11,000 pounds of paper through recycling per month.

Ink and Chemicals
We use soy and other vegetable-based inks which are less harmful to the environment than their petroleum-based counterparts. These inks are widely recognized as the environmentally friendly choice with vastly reduced
VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds).

We are contracted with SafetyKleen which provides comprehensive waste management services for us and the peace of mind that comes from being in compliance with all federal, state and local regulations. Safety-Kleen is the leading provider of cleaning, environmental and re-refining solutions.
